Design Wizard has joined forces with some of our tech peers to create rebelCon, a not for profit software development conference. The one day event will take place on Friday June 16th at the Republic Of Work. With a focus on collaboration and building a developer community, the conference will feature two stages covering a range of topics including front-end web and mobile technologies, culture, productivity and cloud technologies.

rebelCon is the brainchild of our CTO Aidan Casey and Stephanie Sheehan Head of Engineering at Poppulo. The event boasts a line up of national and international speakers with a wealth of software industry experience. Talks on the day will span the latest technology, cultural and development practices in the software industry.
rebelcon will also feature an unconference on Thursday June 15th with cloud computing specialists IC4. The unconference creates a safe space for peer-to-peer learning, networking, collaboration and creativity.

Great! I hear you say, but aren’t you guys a design company?

Yes, we certainly are but we are also a relatively young software company. Design Wizard exited BETA in February so we understand what it’s like to be a startup or entrepreneur taking your first steps into the market. We also have a really experienced and talented development team that do some cool stuff. This event allows us to share this experience. We are committed to collaborating with companies that share our values through conferences, events, sponsorship, integrations and affiliations. Design Wizard actively looks for partners who value quality and who strive to offer exceptional customer service.
Great design is crucial to startups. Design and UX are essential ingredients to making your product stick. Your visual content can determine whether you win or lose on social media. According to Matt Manos CEO of Verynice, “At the core of design is people. So it’s important to have empathy for the user.”

Honesty and creativity

One of our core values is honesty. That applies not just to the work we do with our customers but also in giving back to the community. We are working to release our api documentation publicly and on another cool design feature that we will be making freely available soon (it involves a free button – that’s all I can say). Software development is creative, it uses design, problem solving and language to develop beautiful and inspiring spaces, ecosystems and sometimes whole worlds. We believe in the value of amazing design in software. We want to make the internet a beautiful, enjoyable, colorful place.

Ease of use + software = Good UX

Design is at the heart of everything we do, we are continually working to make Design Wizard even easier to use. We recently added a simple product tour and in app customer service. You can request features in our in app feedback form and we will add it to our road map. Our graphic design and photography team are continuously working to add new and better content every day.
The final talk at rebelCon 2017 will be delivered by Jeremi Walewicz-Antonowicz. Jeremi is responsible for UX at Design Wizard. He specializes in improving processes and consistently meeting user expectations. His unending quest is to increase the usability of the product, application and website. Jeremi’s presentation entitled “Building a bridge between design and development” aims to inspire developers and designers to work closely together to improve user experience.
